Why would anyone disable Fast Charging, right? You get a full battery in less time. What is there not to like? As a matter of fact, there is a serious issue with using fast charging – Over Heating. Samsung has realized this and included the option to let the users decide if they want to enable fast charging or not. Before we go through the process to disable fast charging on Samsung Galaxy S10, S9, S7, S6 and Edge, we will talk about why you may want to disable fast charging.

Although I have already mentioned why you would want to disable fast charging, the argument may not be compelling enough. I mean what would a little overheating can even do, right? It may not affect your device today or tomorrow, but in the long run, you will begin to experience battery issues and even hardware failure. Fast Charging works by pushing more than the usual amount of juice in a very short period of time. This charges your battery faster but in turn, makes it overheat. If you put your charging device besides a fan or on a well-ventilated room, you may not need to worry about this issue. But not everybody charges their device in the same condition every time. If it is on your dashboard when you’re driving to work and the sun is beating down through the windshield, your device can get really hot really fast. IF you are using Samsung Galaxy S7 and models after that, you may have a wireless charger with a fan to help cool down the device while charging. That is good, but the fan produces sound and you may not like that. The sound is not that big a deal.

Disable Fast Charing in Samsung Galaxy S10, S9, S7, S6 and Edge and Note 5

So if you want to make your battery last longer, you might want to disable fast charging when you are not in a hurry or turn it off altogether. Here’s how to disable fast charging in Samsung Galaxy S10, S9, S7, S6 and Edge and Note 5.

For Samsung Galaxy S 10 and S 9 running Android 9 Pie

Step 1: If you are currently charging your device, unplug the charger now.

Step 2: Head over to Settings.

Step 3: Find and select Device Care.

Step 4: Tap on Battery located at the bottom.

Step 5: Tap on the 3-dot menu located at the top right corner. Select Settings.

Step 6: Scroll down till you see Fast cable charging. Turn the toggle off.

For Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and S6 running Android Marshmallow

Step 1: Go to Settings.

Step 2: Find and select Battery.

Step 3: Scroll down till you see Fast cable charging and Fast wireless charging. Disable them.
