Many of you may be using your Mac to write letters and other kinds of documents. While doing so, the one thing that is sure to happen in most cases is that you mistype a word and go back and delete it from the document. Word deletion on a Mac can be done using the Delete button on the keyboard. When you encounter a word you wish to delete, you can simply press the Delete button, and it will delete the characters backwards.

What if you want to delete the characters in front of your cursor? Is it possible to do that on a Mac? Yes, it is. Follow along to find out how.

Forward Delete Text on a Mac

  1. In your text place your cursor to the left of the characters you want to delete. Hold down the “Fn” key on your keyboard, and then press the “Delete” button. You should see that the words are now being deleted forward rather than backward.

If your text work requires you to delete text in front of the cursor, the tip above should help you do just that on your Mac.
